Innovation

Innovation in railway glazing is about achieving more with every component of the train. AGC develops solutions that reduce weight, simplify integration and help railway OEMs improve efficiency without compromising the safety and performance expected from train windows. Our Lightweight Glass can reduce glazing weight by up to 35%, while the DUO Window & Alu Frame combines the glass and aluminium frame into one ready-to-install module. Lightweight Glass

The same performance, now lighter

Lightweight glass is a laminated glass for side windows that is up to 35% lighter than traditional glazing, while preserving safety and performance standards.

With the new DUO Window & Alu Frame solution, AGC now delivers a complete, ready-to-install glazing module, combining glass and aluminium frame into a single supply, so railway OEMs no longer need to source and coordinate two separate components from two separate suppliers.

Instant Shade is a switchable glazing designed for side windows that allows passengers to adjust ambient light. At the push of a button, it switches between transparent and opaque states—and vice versa—in just one second.

Light Screen

Light that guides every journey

The Light Screen is a decorative, light-based solution for railway interiors, seamlessly blending advanced functionality with aesthetic design directly into the glazing.

Various versions are possible, all adaptable to customer layout and brand identity: draught screens with integrated illumination, luggage racks with decorative lit surfaces, partition walls with backlit graphics.

Delivering over 500 nits with uniform luminance across viewing angles when switched ON, the integrated pictograms vanish entirely in the OFF-state to ensure a flawless glass surface.

Flat Window Integration 

  • Organic prints on glass can conceal the framing of flat windows and offer an alternative to conventional black bands.  

  • Improves visual continuity between glazing and interior trim, while expanding CMF possibilities beyond standard black solutions for a more seamless and coherent cabin design. 

Connectivity

Reliable onboard connectivity has become an essential part of the modern train passenger experience. AGC develops railway connectivity solutions that use train glazing itself to improve access to 4G and 5G networks while preserving the functionality and appearance of the window. WAVETHRU™ Retrofit improves mobile signal penetration through existing train windows without replacing the glazing, while AGC's Transparent 5G Glass Antenna integrates antenna technology directly into the window and has achieved the world's first adoption of a transparent 5G glass antenna for a railway vehicle. These technologies give railway operators and manufacturers new ways to improve in-train connectivity while limiting additional equipment, visual impact and unnecessary replacement of existing glazing.
